A jolly family celebration. Crab and 'angel hair' then chocolate fondants. On Sunday, a marqueed lunch for 21 people. On the rather nostalgic menu were little salmon pin wheels and caviar blinis to nibble. Then mammoth chicken pies (the pastry decorated with with pastry doves) and equally whopping salads of little leaves with asparagus, pancetta, handfuls of herbs and jewel-like wild garlic flowers and primroses.
